This article will guide you through Apify’s platform limits, how they work, and what to do if you reach them.

Platform limits are safeguards that help you manage your spending on our platform. They define the maximum amount you can spend beyond your prepaid credits, making sure you stay within your budget and avoid unexpected costs.

⚠️ Please note that platform limits are estimates. Due to the nature of web scraping, it is challenging to predict exactly when to stop. There may be a deviation of up to 10% in your actual spending.

When you subscribe, your platform limit matches your subscription price. You can't spend more than your prepaid platform usage at first. If you want to spend more, increase your limit in Billing > Limits and click the Edit limit button.

Maximum platform limits

We offer different subscription plans with varying maximum platform limits. These limits define the maximum you can spend beyond your prepaid credits. Here's a breakdown:

  • Free plan: You can’t increase your platform limit beyond the free $5 credits.

  • Starter Plan ($39): Maximum platform limit is $200.

  • Scale Plan ($199): Maximum platform limit is $1,000.

  • Business Plan ($999): Maximum platform limit is $5,000.

  • Custom and legacy plans: You can find the maximum platform limit in the dialog box that appears when you click the Edit limit button.

Reaching your maximum limit

If you hit your maximum platform limit:

  • On the Starter or Scale plan, upgrade to the next higher plan.

  • On the Business plan, reach out to Support.

  • On custom plans, either pick from the higher official plans or reach out to Support.

Upgrading temporarily to a higher plan

Upgrading to a higher plan might seem like a big change, especially with auto-renewals. Remember, you can downgrade your subscription at any time. If you need the higher limit temporarily, upgrading is still the way to go.

Upgrading mid-billing cycle means you only pay a pro-rated amount, not the full price of the new plan.

  1. Click Upgrade.

  2. Select the next plan.

  3. Finish the upgrade.

  4. Use the account for your needs on the higher plan.

  5. Downgrade by going to Billing > Subscription.

  6. Click Upgrade.

  7. Select the previous plan.

    • If you were on a legacy plan, you won’t be able to return to it.

  8. Finish the downgrade.

To manage costs and prevent interruptions, you've increased your limit by upgrading your plan with pro-rated costs added to your prepaid credits. Remember, you can upgrade and downgrade at any time, which is useful, especially for spikes in your usage.
