So, you're ready to commit and subscribe to one of Apify's paid plans. If you're unsure which plan is right for you or how to sign up, we've got you covered.

This article discusses the five most common questions brought up by our users:

  1. Which subscription plan should I choose?

  2. What are overages (using more resources than included in the plan)?

  3. How do I subscribe?

  4. How do I add proxies and other add-ons?

  5. How do I upgrade and set up long-term billing?

Check out this video ☝🏻 It's an excellent place to start if you’re having trouble deciding which Apify plan is the best for you.

1. Choosing the right Apify plan for you

One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a plan is the number of compute units you need. Every subscription plan has a CU unit price applicable to it. For example, it's $0.4 per CU in the Starter plan, $0.3 per CU in the Scale plan, and so on. The summary cost of these CUs will be deducted from your prepaid usage.

If you normally count on $49 to $499 worth of resources, you can subscribe to the Starter plan and use up the resources you need, with an option to go into overage once the prepaid resources have been used up. The Starter plan includes 32GB Actor memory, $10 per GB for proxies, unlimited team seats, and more.

If you're planning on using over $500 of platform resources regularly, you'll be better off with the Scale plan. The Scale plan includes more memory, proxies, concurrent runs, priority chat, 1-hour personal technical training per quarter, and more.

If your regular usage is above $500, the Business plan would be most suitable. Besides higher Actor memory and Account manager support level, this plan includes 1 hour of personal tech training per month to help you develop your scrapers and optimize Apify platform usage.

ℹ️ In case you have an existing or a potential high-volume project that you’d like managed or developed by our in-house Apify team, check out Apify Professional Services.

2. Understanding overages

Once the prepaid resources are all consumed, you will be notified you’re getting too close to the limits of your plan and your platform usage will be limited. This is done to protect you against unwanted charges.

If you need to resume your work, you can adjust the platform limit in your Apify Console (Billing > Limits > Edit limit) and go into overage. The overage is then charged using the unit prices applicable for the subscription plan.

If none of the above plans work for you, please contact our support team via email or using the chat icon in the bottom-right corner ↘️ to discuss a custom plan.

When you subscribe to any of our plans, you can cancel it at any time without being tied to lengthy obligations 😉

3. How to subscribe to the Apify plan

Both subscribing and paying for overage work the same way on all our plans.

1. On the left side panel of Apify Console, navigate to the Subscription tab of the Billing section and click on the Upgrade button.

Upgrade from the free plan to a paid plan.

2. Pick the plan that best suits your needs.

3. Fill in your billing information, and you're good to go!

❗️Note that if you are on a Free plan, you cannot pay for the extra resources without subscribing first.

Next, in the Add-ons section, you can choose to add extra resources to your plan 😎

4. Enhancing your plan with add-ons

If you need additional proxies, Actor memory, faster support, and more, go to Billing > Subscription and click Buy Add-ons. Choose the feature and quantity you need, click Continue, and you're good to go!

Note that only shared datacenter proxies can be added this way. If you would like to use dedicated datacenter proxies, get in touch with our support team via email or using the chat icon in the bottom-right corner ↘️.

5. Upgrades and long-term billing

You can upgrade to a higher-tier plan at any time, even in the middle of the billing cycle. You will just pay the difference on a pro-rata basis. Remember, the higher the plan you choose, the cheaper every run gets 😉

In addition to monthly billing, we offer quarterly, biannual, or annual plans. During subscription checkout, you can simply slide the toggle for an automatic 10% annual discount or reach out to our team to discuss a different billing duration.

Signing up for long-term billing grants you an additional discount and allows you to consume your prepaid usage throughout the billing period's duration, however, the included CUs are given monthly. Long-term billing plans are a great option for saving money overall, but also particularly if you have sporadic usage from month to month for long-term projects.

ℹ️ For example, if you subscribe to a biannual Scale plan, you’d have $2,994 in prepaid usage to consume during the 6-month billing duration. However, the 500 CUs would still be given monthly for 6 months (rather than 3,000 CUs credited at once for the entire cycle).
